Labour Planning Analyst

About the Role

Permanent - 39 hours per week

What will your job look like?

There will be numbers – lots of numbers! You’ll be calculating how many hours we need in our warehouse, scheduling shifts and holidays for our colleagues on our Time & Attendance system, and working with the Ops Team and Training Supervisor to make sure we’ve got what we need to get the job done efficiently and on time. With over 25 tasks to assign labour to, you’ll need to make sure everything’s covered – from unloading containers, picking stock for stores, despatching customer orders, and processing returns. 

If we don’t have enough, it’ll be up to you to work with our recruitment provider and Training Supervisor to make sure we bring trained people in to cover the shortfall. You’ll need to manage the competing priorities of colleague needs versus operational requirements, being fair and transparent with your decisions around requests for holidays, unpaid leave, and anything else that comes your way. And then there’s peak… a key period where we need to double our headcount ahead of Christmas, and you’ll be helping us plan and execute the whole thing.

And as you grow into the role and develop your skills, you’ll also have the opportunity to support the wider business with insight into the full cost of activities across the supply chain, highlighting risks to service at peak periods of demand, and recommending actions to get the best commercial outcome for the company.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for a natural problem-solver who can take raw data, manipulate it, and deliver solutions that make things better. You don’t need prior experience with our systems—we’ll support your development and teach you everything you need to know about our models and processes. What we do need is a methodical mindset and a genuine passion for learning and improving how we operate.

Not everyone will be as comfortable with systems and data as you are, so you’ll also need to be good at presenting it in an easy-to-digest format. There will be lots of data available to you, so being selective of what you share with the various audiences will help you be impactful with your insight.

Teamwork is also a big part of this role. You’ll be working with a lot of the warehouse team and with other departments too, so you’ll need to be friendly and approachable, willing to listen to the challenges others may be facing, and comfortable chatting with colleagues at various levels of the business.
