About the Role

Location: Lakeland Distribution Centre, Westmorland Business Park, Gilthwaiterigg Lane, Kendal, LA9 6NW

Contract Type: Permanent, 39 hours per week, 5 days on site

We’re looking for a proactive and dynamic Training Supervisor to take ownership of training across our Distribution Centre. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our teams are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver exceptional performance – both now and for the future. If you’re passionate about people development and have a sharp eye for operational excellence, this could be your next big step.

As a Training Supervisor you will ensure that trained resources are available in line with forecasts, business needs, and operational requirements – supporting our ability to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

•  Develop and Manage Training Needs Analysis (TNA):

Oversee the creation, delivery, and ongoing analysis of TNA matrices for all Supply Chain colleagues, ensuring alignment with business objectives and the strategic roadmap.

•  Deliver and Evaluate Induction Programmes:

Provide comprehensive inductions for all new contract and agency starters, regularly assessing and reporting on their effectiveness.

•  Lead and Support Site Trainer Team:

Train, guide, and manage a team of site trainers across all shifts to ensure effective delivery of training to hourly paid employees.

•  Collaborate with Operations and Planning:

Work closely with the Operations and Planning teams to ensure all training activities are delivered on schedule, to the required quality standards.

•  Create and Manage Training Content:

Produce and maintain engaging training videos and materials for the online portal (LIME) and wider site use.

•  Support Talent Identification and Succession Planning:

Partner with the People Team and Operations to identify high-potential employees and develop succession plans across the site.

•  Maintain Compliance and Advise on Training Methodologies:

Stay current with training best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., machinery safety, dangerous goods) and recommend improvements as necessary.

•  Source and Develop Training Solutions:

Build or procure training materials, courses, and interventions—including leveraging external providers and funding schemes like the Apprenticeship Levy—to meet TNA requirements.

•  Maintain Training Facilities and Resources:

Ensure the site Training room and all training materials are well maintained and continuously improved to support effective learning.

•  Measure and Report Training ROI:

Track, analyse, and report on the return on investment of training initiatives, supporting continuous improvement and adherence to the agreed training roadmap.

•  Communicate Training Performance Metrics:

Share key data and insights related to training success, SLAs, and KPIs with site leadership and relevant teams.

What We're Looking For

Experience & Knowledge:

•Proven experience designing and delivering Training Needs Analyses, ideally in a Supply Chain or Logistics environment.

•Strong training delivery skills with relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.

•Skilled in managing training portals and tracking completion data.

•Demonstrable experience in managing internal and external training resources.

Key Capabilities

•Personable and positive approach with the ability to influence across teams.

•Self-motivated and able to work independently.

•Analytical mindset – comfortable using data to measure training outcomes and drive improvements.

•Commercially aware, with the ability to link people development to operational success.
